The dimensions, cut list, shopping list and drawings all come from one parametric model, and they were cross-checked against each other before release.

- Front and side elevations
- Shopping list and master cut list with a Part ID for every piece
- Cut diagrams and sheet layouts
- Rafter template and angled cuts
- Lap siding layout and a course-by-course schedule for every wall

## The Reverse Single-Slope Roof and Clerestory Window
The roof starts low over the entry, where a 24 in overhang and a 5 in gutter keep the door dry, and rises to a tall back wall. High in that wall, a 64 x 18 in three-lite clerestory window brings soft light into the room, so the studio feels bright but private from the back.
## Floor Plan of the 16x12 Backyard Office
The 192 sq ft room has a 36 in black full-lite door and a 72 x 48 in picture window side by side on the front, plus the clerestory high in the back wall. The front wall is 7' 10-3/4" tall and the back wall is 10' 9-7/8", so the ceiling rises toward the back. The room fits a 48 in desk under the picture window, two bookcases on the right wall and a reading corner, and the door still swings clear.
## Construction Details of This Cedar Studio Shed

- Walls: studs at 16 in on center with pressure-treated bottom plates; a 2x6 tall back wall, 2x4 front and side walls, bearing front and back walls with double top plates and 2x10 headers, raked side walls, 7/16 in OSB sheathing and housewrap
- Roof: 3/12 (14 degree) pitch falling to the front, nine 2x8 rafters at 24 in on center with a 24 in front overhang and a 12 in back eave, 15/32 in plywood, synthetic underlayment, ribbed metal panels, vented bird blocks and a 5 in front gutter

## File Format, Paper Size and Units
The plan is a 51-page PDF sized for US Letter paper. All dimensions are in imperial units (feet and inches), and lumber is named by nominal size and drawn at actual size; the master cut list also gives millimetres for reference. You can print the pages or read them on a tablet or laptop at the build site.
## Who This DIY Studio Shed Is For
This plan is rated Intermediate. Two people can build most of it, with 3 to 4 people to raise the tall back wall and set the rafters, in about 4 to 5 weekends. Spring is a popular time to start, so many builders buy the plan and order the door and windows over the winter.

## Frequently Asked Questions
### How do I download the PDF after purchase?
After checkout, you can download the PDF from the download link on your order confirmation page and in your confirmation email. The download is instant, and nothing is shipped.
### Is cedar good for a shed?
Yes, cedar is a good choice for a shed, and this plan lets you use real 1x8 bevel or channel cedar siding with the same 6 in exposure instead of the cedar-texture lap siding. Use stainless or hot-dipped nails and the end gaps your supplier recommends.
### Can I leave out the gutter on this shed?
It is not recommended, because all the rain leaves at the front eave right where you walk in. Without a gutter, lay a wide gravel strip under the whole front eave and keep the entry step clear of the drip line.
### Can I flip the plan so the door is on the right?
Yes, build the front wall as a mirror image with the door on the right and the window on the left. Everything else stays the same, and the downspout moves to the left corner.
### Can I use asphalt shingles on this studio shed?
Not on this 3/12 pitch without special low-slope underlayment. Ribbed metal or standing-seam panels are the right choice.
