The dimensions, cut list, shopping list and drawings all come from one parametric model, and they were cross-checked against each other before release.

## The Cedar Slat Entry Wall

Around the black full-lite door, horizontal 1x2 cedar slats with 1/2 in shadow gaps run over a black background, next to the sage green siding and a wide black-framed window. The roof is low at the front and runs 24 in past the wall, so the entry and the step stay dry under a deep overhang, and a 5 in gutter carries the rain to the front-right corner.

## Floor Plan of the 16x12 Backyard Office

The 192 sq ft room has a 36 in full-lite door, a 72 x 40 in sliding window over the desk on the front and a tall 30 x 60 in window in the right wall. The front wall is 7' 8-3/4" tall and the back wall is 10' 7-7/8", so the ceiling climbs from about 7' 9" at the desk to 10' 7" at the back. The room fits a 60 in desk, two bookcases and a reading corner by the tall side window, and the door still swings clear.

## Construction Details of This Sage Green Shed

- Foundation: 4 in compacted gravel pad, 18 x 14 ft, with 16 solid concrete cap blocks, four 12 ft 4x6 pressure-treated skids and 4 earth anchors
- Floor: 2x6 pressure-treated joists at 16 in on center between 2x6 side rims, 23/32 in tongue-and-groove plywood subfloor
- Walls: 2x4 studs at 16 in on center with pressure-treated bottom plates; bearing front and back walls with double top plates and 2x8 headers, raked side walls, structural siding panels that brace the walls without OSB
- Roof: 3/12 (14 degree) pitch falling to the front, thirteen 2x8 rafters at 16 in on center with a 24 in front overhang and a 12 in back eave, 15/32 in plywood, synthetic underlayment, black ribbed metal panels, vented bird blocks and a 5 in black front gutter
- Door and windows: a 36 x 80 in prehung full-lite inswing door, a 72 x 40 in sliding window and a 30 x 60 in casement or fixed window in the right wall
- Siding and finish: 19/32 in engineered panel siding with vertical grooves at 8 in on center, painted sage green; black behind the slats; black 1x4 corner boards and casings and 1x10 fascias and rakes; clear-oiled 1x2 cedar slats
- Design basis: with Douglas fir-larch No. 2 rafters, the roof suits about 30 psf ground snow; in heavier snow or high wind areas, have the rafters, the 24 in front overhang, the headers and the anchors checked locally

## File Format, Paper Size and Units

The plan is a 48-page PDF sized for US Letter paper. All dimensions are in imperial units (feet and inches), and lumber is named by nominal size and drawn at actual size; the master cut list also gives millimetres for reference. You can print the pages or read them on a tablet or laptop at the build site.

## Who This DIY Studio Shed Is For

This plan is rated Intermediate. Two people can build most of it, with a third helper to raise the tall back wall and set the rafters, in about 4 to 5 weekends. Spring is a popular time to start, so many builders buy the plan and order the door and windows over the winter.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How do I download the PDF after purchase?

After checkout, you can download the PDF from the download link on your order confirmation page and in your confirmation email. The download is instant, and nothing is shipped.

### Why is the roof low at the front of this shed?

The low front keeps the side people see friendly and gives the entry a deep 24 in overhang. It also lifts the ceiling toward the back of the shed, where tall bookcases fit.

### Can I use vertical cedar boards instead of slats?

Yes, 1x4 or 1x6 cedar boards with 1/4 in gaps on horizontal nailers work too. The nailers then run horizontally every 16 in.

### Can I flip the plan so the door is on the right?

Yes, build everything as a mirror image with the door and slat wall on the right and the tall window in the left wall. All lengths stay the same.

### Can I use asphalt shingles on this single-slope shed?

Not on this 3/12 pitch without special low-slope underlayment. Ribbed metal or standing-seam panels are the right choice.
