The dimensions, cut list, shopping list and drawings all come from one parametric model, and they were cross-checked against each other before release.

## The Inset Cedar Entry Nook
A 60 x 48 in covered porch is set into the front-left corner of the shed, so you step out of the rain before you open the door. Its walls, ceiling and beam are lined with clear-finished 1x6 tongue-and-groove cedar, and a slim black 4x4 corner post carries the nook beam. The nook deck sits 1-3/4 in below the floor, so rain never reaches the door sill.
## Floor Plan of the 16x12 Backyard Office
Inside the walls, the room is L-shaped around the nook, with 172 sq ft of floor plus the 20 sq ft nook. A 72 x 48 in sliding window and a 36 x 48 in fixed window meet at the front-right corner, so an L-shaped desk fits right under them. The room also fits two bookcases on the right wall and a reading corner, and the door still swings clear.
## Construction Details of This Board and Batten Shed

- Walls: 2x4 studs at 16 in on center with pressure-treated bottom plates; bearing front and back walls, a two-ply 2x10 nook beam on a 4x4 corner post, raked side walls and a raked nook return wall
- Roof: 3/12 (14 degree) pitch, ten 2x8 rafters at 24 in on center with an 18 in front overhang and a 12 in back eave, 15/32 in plywood, synthetic underlayment, black ribbed metal panels, vented bird blocks and a 5 in back gutter

- Design basis: light to moderate snow (about 30 psf ground snow); in heavy snow or high wind areas, have the rafters, the nook beam and post, the window header and the anchors checked locally
## File Format, Paper Size and Units
The plan is a 59-page PDF sized for US Letter paper. All dimensions are in imperial units (feet and inches), and lumber is named by nominal size and drawn at actual size; the master cut list also gives millimetres for reference. You can print the pages or read them on a tablet or laptop at the build site.
## Who This DIY Studio Shed Is For
This plan is rated Intermediate. Two people can build most of it, with a third helper to raise the tall front wall and set the rafters, in about 4 to 6 weekends. Spring is a popular time to start, so many builders buy the plan and order the door and windows over the winter.

## Frequently Asked Questions
### How do I download the PDF after purchase?
After checkout, you can download the PDF from the download link on your order confirmation page and in your confirmation email. The download is instant, and nothing is shipped.
### How do you build a shed with a porch?
In this plan, the covered porch is an inset nook framed into the front corner of the shed, with its own lower deck frame, a two-ply 2x10 beam and a 4x4 corner post. Steps 3, 6, 8, 20 and 21 show the nook from the deck frame to the cedar lining.
### Can I build this shed without the porch nook?
Not easily, because the nook is part of the structure of the front corner. Message us and ask for the plain 16 x 12 version of this shell instead.
### Can I use real board and batten instead of panels?
Yes, nail 7/16 in OSB sheathing first, then 1x10 boards with 1x3 battens. Every trim piece and casing then moves out by the extra thickness.
### Can I flip the plan so the porch is on the right?
Yes, mirror everything so the nook, post and beam go to the right and the corner windows to the left. All lengths stay the same.
