## Modern Shed Plans With a V-Shaped Butterfly Roof
The butterfly roof is a classic mid-century modern shape. Two roof slopes fall inward to a central valley beam, so the side walls stand tall and the front gables open up for two trapezoid windows. The valley is lined with ice-and-water membrane and W-valley flashing, and it drains to a rain chain at the back.
- Inside floor: about 161" x 113"
- Side wall height inside: 10' 2-9/16"
- Height under the valley beam: 7' 6-3/4"
- Roof framing: 2x6 rafters at 24" O.C. on a doubled 2x12 valley beam
- Walls: 2x4 framing at 16" O.C. with 7/16" OSB and housewrap
- Floor: 2x6 pressure-treated frame with 3/4" tongue and groove plywood
## Storage Shed With Sliding Barn Doors
The 72-inch door opening fits a riding mower. Two cedar barn doors slide apart on an exterior track, so they need no swing space in front of the shed. A built-in ramp makes it easy to roll equipment in and out.
## File Format, Paper Size and Units
The plan is a 52-page PDF sized for US Letter paper. All dimensions are in imperial units to the nearest 1/16", and the master cut list also gives each part in millimeters. You can print it or read it on a tablet at the build site.
## Who These DIY Shed Plans Are For
This backyard shed plan suits DIY builders with some framing experience. Plan on 2 people for most steps, 3 for raising the side walls, and about 5 weekends. The framing is sized for about 30 psf roof snow; in heavier snow areas, have a local pro check the beam, header and rafters.

## Frequently Asked Questions
### What is a butterfly roof shed?
A butterfly roof shed has two roof slopes that tilt inward to a low central valley, forming a V shape. In this plan, the valley rests on a doubled 2x12 beam and the tall outer walls leave room for gable windows.
### What are the disadvantages of a butterfly roof?
The main drawback of a butterfly roof is that rain and snow collect in the central valley. This plan handles it with an ice-and-water membrane, W-valley flashing and a rain chain that carries water to a barrel at the back.
### How big is this 14x10 shed?
The 14x10 shed has a 14' x 10' floor frame, which gives 140 square feet of floor area. It stands about 11' 11" tall at the high eaves above the foundation blocks.
### Do I need a permit for a 14x10 shed?
Many areas require a permit for a 140 sq ft shed or one taller than a set height limit. Check with your local building department before you build, since this shed is about 12' tall.
### How do I download the PDF after purchase?
Right after checkout you get a download link for the PDF, so you can save and print it straight away. No physical item is shipped.
