## A Honey House with an Extracting Bench and Super Shelves
The enclosed honey room works as a small honey extraction room. A 96" extracting bench along the back wall gives space for uncapping and bottling, and three levels of deep shelves on the left wall hold supers, jars and beekeeping gear. The plan suggests sealing the bench top with food-safe oil so honey and wax wipe off easily.
## An Open Hive Bay Under the Same Roof
At the right end, a 6 ft open hive bay sits under the same single-slope roof on four 6x6 cedar posts with beams and knee braces. A two-shelf cedar hive rack runs along the back of the bay on a 5/4 cedar deck.
## Cedar Dutch Doors, Bevel Siding and a Cedar Shake Roof
The cedar Dutch doors open in two halves, with glazed upper halves that let light into the honey room. Horizontal cedar bevel siding is painted sage green with cream trim, and two six-lite windows carry cedar window boxes. The roof is covered with hand-split cedar shakes. The plan uses no plywood: the floor is 2x6 tongue-and-groove planks and the roof deck is 1x6 tongue-and-groove boards.
The framing is sized for about 30 psf roof snow. In heavier snow areas, have a local professional check the beams, headers and rafters.
## File Format, Paper Size and Units
The plan is a 56-page PDF on US Letter paper with imperial measurements, with lengths given in actual inches to 1/16". You can print it or read it on a tablet or computer.
## Who These DIY Beekeeping Shed Plans Are For
These DIY beekeeping shed plans suit builders with intermediate skills who can use a circular saw, miter saw and drill. Raising the tall front wall, setting the bay beams and rafters, the roof work and hanging the doors need helpers, and the front wall is best raised by three people.

## Frequently Asked Questions
### What is a honey house in beekeeping?
A honey house is a room where beekeepers extract, bottle and store honey and keep supers and gear. In this apiary shed, the 216 sq ft honey room has an extracting bench and deep shelves, with an open hive bay beside it.
### Where should I place a beekeeping shed with a hive bay?
Choose level, well-drained ground and keep the open hive bay away from the prevailing wind. The plan recommends keeping the hive entrances facing away from the doors and paths.
### How many 2x4s do I need for a 12x24 shed?
This 12x24 shed needs 51 stud-grade 2x4s, 5 pressure-treated 2x4s and 1 rough cedar 2x4 in 8 to 16 ft lengths, as listed on the shopping list.
### Do I need a permit for a 12x24 beekeeping shed?
A 288 sq ft building like this 12x24 beekeeping shed needs a permit in most places. Check your local zoning, setbacks and height limits before you build, since the shed is about 12' 10" tall at the front eave.
### How do I download the PDF after purchase?
