## A Fitted Horse Tack Room with Saddle Racks and Feed Bin

The inside is laid out as a working tack room. Four saddle racks and a bridle rail with pegs keep saddles and bridles off the floor, and a lidded feed bin holds horse feed. The 288 sq ft floor leaves space for hay bales and buckets.

Outside, a cedar hitching rail stands in front of the doors, so you can tie a horse while you tack up.

## Slatted Cedar Sliding Barn Doors and Stall Windows

Two slatted cedar sliding barn doors run on an exterior track over a 6 ft wide opening, so they need no swing room in front. Two 36" x 30" stall windows bring light into the tack and feed room.

## All-Wood Build with Charcoal Cedar Siding and a Cedar Shingle Roof

Vertical tongue-and-groove cedar siding is stained charcoal, with natural cedar casings and corner boards. The single-slope roof is high at the front and falls to the back, covered with red cedar shingles. The plan uses no plywood: the floor is 2x6 tongue-and-groove planks and the roof deck is 1x6 tongue-and-groove boards.

The framing is sized for about 30 psf roof snow. In heavier snow areas, have a local professional check the header and rafters.

## File Format, Paper Size and Units

The plan is a 55-page PDF on US Letter paper with imperial measurements, with lengths given in actual inches to 1/16". You can print it or read it on a tablet or computer.

## Who These DIY Tack Shed Plans Are For

These DIY tack shed plans suit builders with intermediate skills who can use a circular saw, miter saw and drill. Raising the 24 ft walls, setting the rafters, the roof work and hanging the doors need helpers, and the front wall is best raised by three people.

### How many 2x4s do I need for a 12x24 shed?

This 12x24 shed needs 65 stud-grade 2x4s and 6 pressure-treated 2x4s in 8 to 16 ft lengths, as listed on the shopping list.
