## Large Chicken Coop Features
- Eight outside nesting boxes on the coop end, under a hinged, shingled lid
- A roost ladder with about 10" of roost per bird for 16 hens
- A 32-1/8" x 61" coop door with its own door ramp for cleaning out the deep litter
- Two opening windows on the back wall, plus screened eave and ridge vents that always stay open
- A 15-1/2" x 15-1/2" pop door with a chicken ramp down into the run
- Shiplap siding with corner boards on a 4x4 pressure-treated frame with 4x6 cross beams
## Covered Walk-In Chicken Run
The 16' 3-11/16" run is enclosed with 1/2" galvanized hardware cloth and covered by the same roof as the coop. A 35-1/8" x 68-1/2" aviary door next to the coop lets you walk in, and the ridge over the partition gives standing room in the run beside the coop. Knee braces stiffen the post-and-beam frame along the full length.
## Gable Roof Design
The ridge runs across the building above the coop partition. The long side slopes 2/12 down to the run end and the short side slopes 3/12 down to the coop end, both with 1/2" sheathing and 3-tab shingles.

## Frequently Asked Questions
### How big should a chicken coop be for 12 chickens?
Twelve standard hens need about 48 sq ft of coop space at 4 sq ft per bird. This chicken coop has about 59 sq ft inside and a 151 sq ft run, so it fits 12 hens full time.
### Can this large chicken coop hold 16 hens?
Yes, this large chicken coop holds up to 16 hens if they free-range every day, which gives each bird about 3.7 sq ft inside and 9.4 sq ft of run.
### Is there a chicken coop I can walk in?
This plan has a walk-in run with a 68-1/2" tall aviary door, and the ridge above the partition gives you standing room in the run next to the coop.
### Why does this chicken coop roof have two different slopes?
The roof slopes 2/12 over the long run and 3/12 over the coop, because asphalt shingles need a slope of at least 2 in 12.
### How do I download the PDF after purchase?
You can download the PDF right after purchase from the link on your order confirmation page and in your confirmation email. No physical item is shipped.
