A straight stair against the left wall leads to the loft. The long shed dormer gives the loft full headroom on one side and room for a desk nook. The living room is open to the ridge, with an exposed ridge beam and a 12 ft glass front facing the deck.

## File Format, Paper Size and Units
The plan is a 57-page PDF sized for US Letter paper. All dimensions are in imperial units (feet and inches), and lumber is listed by nominal size. You can print the pages or read them on a tablet or laptop on the job site.
## Who This DIY Cabin Plan Is For
This is an advanced DIY plan for builders with framing experience. The shell takes 2 to 3 people about 8 to 10 weekends, and lifting the ridge beam needs equipment. A building permit is needed almost everywhere, so take the plan to your local building department before you start. Many builders plan over the winter and are ready to build in spring.

## Frequently Asked Questions
### How do I download the PDF after purchase?
After checkout, you can download the PDF from the download link on your order confirmation page and in your confirmation email. The download is instant, and nothing is shipped.
### What is considered a 1.5 story house?
A 1.5 story house has a full ground floor and a second level tucked under the roof, like the loft in this Scandinavian house plan. Here the loft adds about 230 sq ft to the 540 sq ft ground floor.
### What makes a house a loft house?
A loft house has an open upper level that overlooks the space below instead of a closed second floor. In this loft house plan, the loft sits over the bedroom and bath and looks down into the living room, which is open to the ridge.
### Is the loft a legal bedroom?
Whether the loft counts as a bedroom depends on your local code for stairs, egress windows and ceiling height. The two loft dormer windows in this plan can be sized as egress windows.
### Can I build this cabin without the dormer?
Yes, you can build this cabin without the dormer by running common rafters on both sides and framing the left wall like the right one. Loft headroom then drops to the center strip, and the stair needs a different position.
