## What's Included in This Skillion Barn Pavilion Plan

This 16x36 skillion barn pavilion puts one long shed roof over two spaces: a tall open timber porch at the front and a one-room studio at the back. The 2x12 rafters span the full 16' width with no center beam or posts, so both the porch and the room stay completely open. Two clerestory windows in the 12' high wall bring light deep into the studio, and a picture window and full-lite door face the porch.

The plan covers the whole build, from the slab to the trim:

- Floor plan with anchor bolt and post base layout
- Front, back, low side and high side elevations with all key heights
- Cross section through the room with rafter bearing details
- Rafter template with both birdsmouth cuts, plus knee brace and raked plate cuts
- Wall framing drawings for the low, high and raked end walls
- Shopping list grouped by material, with an estimated material budget
- Master cut list with part IDs and cut diagrams
- 15 illustrated step-by-step pages, from site layout to trim
- Finishing and care notes, plus 7 finished renderings

## How the Single-Slope Shed Roof Works

The skillion roof rises at 3/12 (14 degrees) from a 2x4 low wall to a 12' tall 2x6 high wall. Each of the 28 rafters is one 2x12 x 20' board laid out from a single pattern rafter, set at 16" on center with 12" low and 16" high overhangs. The porch beams carry the rafters at the same heights, using six 6x6 posts in two lengths.

## File Format, Paper Size and Units

The plan is a 41-page PDF sized for US Letter paper. All dimensions are imperial, in inches and feet-inches to 1/16", measured from the top of the slab. The cut list adds a millimeter column, and part IDs match every drawing and step page.

## Who This Modern Studio Pavilion Plan Is For

This modern studio pavilion plan suits intermediate DIY builders working with 2 to 3 people. Expect about 6 to 8 weekends of work after the slab cures. The plan delivers a weather-tight shell; insulation, interior finishes, electrical and plumbing follow your local code.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### What is the ideal pitch for a skillion roof?

This skillion roof plan uses a 3/12 pitch (about 14 degrees), which sheds water while keeping the high wall at a buildable 12'. In heavy snow regions, have an engineer check the rafters and the high wall for your ground snow load.

### What are the disadvantages of a skillion roof?

A skillion roof sends all rain and snow to one side, so the low eave needs good drainage. Long single-slope spans also need deep rafters, which is why this plan uses one-piece 2x12 rafters.

### How much does it cost to build a 16x36 skillion barn pavilion?

The plan estimates materials for this 16x36 skillion barn pavilion at about $16,500 to $20,000 at typical US big-box prices. Tax, delivery and regional price changes are not included.

### Can I flip the shed roof to slope the other way?

Yes, you can build the mirror image with the high side on the opposite wall. All dimensions stay the same; you only swap the two side walls and the post heights.

### How do I download the PDF after purchase?

You can download the PDF right after purchase from the link on the order confirmation page or in your confirmation email. No physical item is shipped.
