## Outdoor Bar with Cedar Shake Roof: Frame and Dimensions

Six 6x6 pressure-treated posts stand on standoff bases anchored to a concrete slab or patio. A doubled 2x10 front beam and a doubled 2x8 back beam sit in notches at the post tops and are through-bolted, with four knee braces. Thirteen 2x6 rafters at 16" on center carry 1/2" plywood, underlayment and 18" cedar shakes on a single-slope 4/12 roof, giving 9' 2-3/4" of headroom under the front beam.

### Stacked Stone Bar and Back Bar

- 15' 3-1/8" 2x12 bar top at 42", 6" past the stone, seats 5
- Front and right bar walls clad with faux stacked-stone panels over plywood
- 47-3/4" side ledge on the right
- Free-standing 11 ft back counter and four back-bar shelves
- 38-1/2" bartender entry at the right rear

### Window with Sliding Shutters

The full-height left wall has a 30" x 24" window with cedar trim and two shutter leaves on a sliding barn-door track, so the bar can also serve a lounge or fire-pit area. The left and back walls are 5/8" T1-11 siding painted charcoal with cedar corner boards.

## Who This DIY Outdoor Bar Plan Is For

This plan suits builders with intermediate skills who have a concrete patio and can use a circular saw, miter saw and drill. A helper is needed for the posts, beams and roof. If there is no slab, the plan explains how to set the posts on concrete piers instead. Interest in outdoor bars peaks in spring, so the off-season is a good time to plan the build and price materials.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How do I download the PDF after purchase?

After checkout you get a download link on the order page and by email, so you can download the stone outdoor bar plan PDF instantly.

### What is a good height for an outdoor bar?

A good outdoor bar height is 42", which is the bar top height in this plan, with the top running 6" past the stone for knee room.

### Can I use real stone on this stone outdoor bar?

You can, but thin natural stone veneer needs cement board, lath and mortar and weighs much more; the faux stone panels in this plan give the same look in a weekend.

### Can I use shingles or metal instead of cedar shakes?

Yes, shingles or metal panels can go over the same plywood and underlayment instead of cedar shakes, and asphalt shingles also need at least a 4/12 pitch.

### Can I build this outdoor bar without a concrete slab?

Yes, you can build this outdoor bar without a slab by pouring six 12" concrete piers below the frost line, setting the post bases in the wet concrete and laying pavers or gravel inside.
