## What's Included in These Two Tier Pergola Plans

This 12x22 pergola plan builds three bays on eight posts. The two low wings hang on sandwich beams bolted to both faces of the posts, and the four tall inner posts run up through them to carry the high beams. The raised center roof overlaps both wings, so light comes in through a clerestory gap on each side of the center bay.

## Large Pergola Blueprint Format and Units

The pergola blueprint is a 24-page PDF on US Letter paper. All dimensions are in feet and inches to 1/16" precision, and the main cut lengths are also given in millimeters. Drawings are not to scale, so you always build from the written dimensions.

## Who This Multi Level Pergola Plan Is For

These freestanding pergola plans suit DIY builders with some framing experience. You need a level area of about 31' x 22', scaffold or two sturdy step ladders for the high roof, and a crew of three for the beams. Put a lounge set under one low wing and a dining table under the raised center, or the other way round.

## How to Use the Two Tier Pergola Plans

1. Buy the plan and download the PDF.
2. Print it or open it on a tablet or computer.
3. Check local zoning, permit and height rules for your area.
4. Buy the lumber and hardware from the shopping list.
5. Follow the 9 steps, labeling every part with its part ID as you cut it.

## Digital Product Note

This is a digital PDF plan. No physical item is shipped, and no lumber or hardware is included. The file is ready to download right after purchase. Spring is the busiest building season, so fall and winter are a good time to plan a large pergola and order materials.

## Terms of Use

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How do I download the PDF after purchase?

After checkout you get a download link on the order confirmation page and by email. Click the link to download the two tier pergola plans PDF.

### Is it cheaper to build or buy a pergola?

Building a pergola from plans lets you buy lumber locally at your own prices instead of paying for a pre-built kit. The shopping list in this PDF lets you price the full build before you start.

### Can I build a smaller version of this two tier pergola?

Yes, you can build only the raised center on four posts, or one wing and the center. Each bay of this two tier pergola is built the same way, so keep the post spacing.

### Does a large pergola need a permit?

A large pergola of this size usually needs a permit, so check zoning, HOA rules and setbacks before you buy materials. The top of the high roof is 11' 8" above grade.

### Can I add a solid roof or shade sails to this pergola?

Not as drawn, because this pergola is sized for its own weight and light vines. A solid roof or a large shade sail needs an engineered design.
