## Outdoor Bar with Living Green Roof: Frame and Dimensions

Eight 6x6 pressure-treated posts in three bays stand on standoff bases. A doubled 2x12 front beam and a doubled 2x10 back beam with staggered splices sit in notches at the post tops and are through-bolted, with six knee braces. Eighteen 2x10 rafters at 16" on center carry 3/4" plywood, an EPDM membrane, cedar curbs and 78 pre-grown sedum trays, with a gutter at the back and 9' 10-3/4" of headroom under the front beam.

### Zellige Tile Bar and Back Bar

- 22' 0-1/4" 2x12 bar top in three pieces at 42", 8" past the tile, seats 7
- Front and right bar walls clad with cement board and emerald zellige tile (about 91 sq ft)
- 55-1/2" side ledge on the right
- 15 ft back counter and six back-bar shelves
- 54-1/2" bartender entry at the right rear

### Round Window and Terracotta Walls

The full-height left wall has a 30" round window framed with a 37" oak ring, so the bar can also serve a second group on that side. The left and back walls are smooth fiber-cement panels painted terracotta, with light oak corner boards.

## Who This DIY Outdoor Bar Plan Is For

This is an advanced plan for experienced builders who can handle staggered beam splices, roof membranes and tile work. Three people are needed for the posts, beams and roof. If there is no slab, the plan explains how to set the posts on concrete piers instead. Interest in outdoor bars and green roofs peaks in spring, so the off-season is a good time to plan the build and order materials.

## How to Use Your Outdoor Bar Plans PDF

1. Buy the plan and download the PDF right away.
2. Open it on a tablet or computer, or print it on US Letter paper at 100%.
3. Check local zoning and HOA rules; a roofed structure of this size often needs a permit.
4. Buy materials from the shopping list and cut parts from the cut list and diagrams.
5. Follow the 18 steps in order, labeling each part with its Part ID.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How do I download the PDF after purchase?

After checkout you get a download link on the order page and by email, so you can download the green roof outdoor bar plan PDF instantly.

### How heavy is a green roof on an outdoor bar?

Saturated sedum trays weigh about 15-20 lb per sq ft, or about 6,000 lb on this outdoor bar, and the rafters, beams and eight posts are sized for that load.

### What are the downsides of a green roof?

A green roof is heavy and needs some care: water it weekly for the first month, weed it twice a year and keep the drain notches and gutter clear.

### Can I use a normal roof instead of the green roof?

Yes, you can replace the membrane, curbs and sedum trays with underlayment and shingles or metal, and the frame then has a large reserve.

### Can I build this green roof bar on a wooden deck?

No, this green roof bar is designed for a concrete slab or patio at least 4" thick because the living roof is heavy; without a slab, the plan uses eight concrete piers.
